Search & Rescue Support
Stretching from the Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean, with stunning snow-capped mountains as its backdrop and bordered by impressive braided rivers and crystal clear lakes, Mid-Canterbury is one of the great secrets of New Zealand, with an inspiring range of energetic and sporting activities on hand. Every year however, many people get into trouble in the bush, mountains, rivers, lakes or coastal waters. A search and rescue operation is organised if, for example, a person is reported overdue from a tramping, hunting or boating expedition. Searches often extend to the wide seas surrounding the country.
Mt Hutt Helicopters regularly provide support assets to organisations such as NZ Police and SARS. The greater mobility achievable with helicopters make them the perfect observation tools and also reach difficult terrain quickly to deploy search and rescue teams.
